The cuebid is Michaels. Over a natural minor suit opening it shows both majors. Over a major suit opening it shows the other major and a minor.
Over minor suits
Subsequent bidding is mostly natural since there are already three suits on the table.
| (1♣) 2♣ - | |
|---|---|
| 2♦ | NF, usually 6+♦ |
| 2♥♠ | NAT, 1+# |
| 2NT | NAT INV |
| 3♣! | INV+, usually 3+♠♥ |
| 3♦ | FG, usually 6+♦ |
| 3♥♠ | PRE, 3+# |
| (1♦) 2♦ - | |
|---|---|
| 2♥♠ | NAT, 1+# |
| 2NT | NAT INV |
| 3♣ | NF, usually 6+♣ |
| 3♦! | INV+, usually 3+♠♥ |
| 3♥♠ | PRE, 3+# |
Over major suits
| (1♥) 2♥ - | |
|---|---|
| 2♠ | NAT, 1+♠ |
| 2NT! | INV+, ask for the minor suit |
| 3♣♦! | P/C |
| 3♥ | INV+, 3+♠ |
| 3♠ | PRE, 3+♠ |
Obviously, (1♠) 2♠ - 3♠ is game-forcing because it bypasses both our suits. Meckstroth advances move the forcing raise to 3♦ and reenables invitation.
| (1♠) 2♠ - | |
|---|---|
| 2♥! | P/C |
| 2NT! | INV+, ask for the minor suit |
| 3♣! | P/C |
| 3♦! | INV+, 3+♥ |
| 3♥ | NAT, 2+♥ |
Cuebidder is not supposed to have a stopper. To a new suit advance, I suggest cuebidder swap notrump and cuebid. A notrump rebid shows support while a cuebid denies it.
